THE TIME MACHINE BY JULES AND TIM SIMMONS
FOR 2011 HAVANT LITERARY FESTIVAL
These are a few of the wishes of the people who tried to travel in our Time Machine! The full record is in the Time Machine Book.
To the future -
- And travel forward about a hundred years to see how the world has solved the problem of climate change, and whether the march of Information technology has continued.
- 2090 - people live everywhere in harmony. The resources of the world are shared equally and protected for future generations. Love has triumphed.
- To see the future careers of the lovely young people I taught writing to yesterday - and in the past... I'd like to see the first crossing of the Thames.
- To about 50 years from now to see whether I have any great-grandchildren and what they would be like.
- I look forward to summer 2012 when both my mature student children will have finished their courses and I can relax!
To the past -
- The time of King Henry 7th, so to see the beginning of the Tudor period.
- Go back and say the things I should have said, and indeed wish I'd said, to my father before he died and possibly prevented his earlyish death due to lack of communication.
- To the house I used to live in because I don't think it's there but it's in my head - very happy memories playing in the street.
- 1964 Hard's Day Night Plymouth 2/6 ticket
- To go back and meet Darwin and listen to all his stories. Maybe have him as a dinner guest. P.S after his Galapagos travels.
- To join my grandpa on a sailing ship in the South Seas, on our way to Hong Kong to pick up chests of tea!
- To see my brother Andy and ask him all the things I didn't ask and tell him all the things that have happened since. Then I'd handcuff him and bring him back.
- To return to Atlantis as I firmly believe I was an Atlantean and am very curious about the environment I existed in and perhaps get some clue as to what actually happened at its demise.
- To visit the kitchen of my childhood to sing songs with my mum as we peeled apples for her pies.
The children wanted to:
- Go back to see the dinosaurs.
- Go to the moon and eat cheese.
- Go to sausage land.
- To prevent cancer in the future.
- To go to an alien planet in the future and ride in a space ship..
- Go back in time to see Michael Jordan play basketball.
